Internet Outages in 2026

65 national outages and 258 partial disturbances in 94 countries since 22 June 2026, updated daily.

How often does a whole country lose its internet connection, and where? Since 22 June 2026 our measurement network has recorded 65 national internet outages in 27 countries and territories, plus 258 partial disturbances, when a large share of a country's networks dropped at once. In total, 94 countries were affected. This report summarizes those events and is updated every night.

Most outages are technical: a cable fault, a power failure or a problem at a main provider. A smaller number are ordered by authorities, for example during school exams. Small island territories that depend on one or two submarine cables appear again and again.

Countries with the most time offline

Total duration of all recorded events per country, full outages and partial disturbances together. A partial disturbance means that a significant part of the country's networks stopped answering, not necessarily all of them.

Outages ordered by authorities

21 of the recorded events were planned shutdowns ordered by authorities: Iraq (21). These usually follow a fixed daily schedule, for example during national school exams, and end at a set hour.

How we measure

For every country we watch a national signal: how many of its networks are visible and answer to active probing, compared with the same country's own 24-hour baseline. An event starts when the signal drops well below the baseline and ends when it recovers. A drop of most networks is counted as a full outage, a smaller but significant drop as a partial disturbance. Each candidate event is checked against other signals, and those that turn out to be measurement errors are excluded from this report. Times are in UTC.

This report covers national-level events only. A single provider, a city or one website can fail without any change in the national signal. To check whether a particular website opens in a given country right now, use the free Global Availability Checker; for country profiles see website availability by country.
